Physiotherapy and Osteopathy Palma de Mallorca
How do we approach physiotherapy and osteopathy in Mallorca?
Physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments are a core part of our professionals’ daily practice in the area of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. A large part of the personalized physiotherapeutic treatment and diagnosis we carry out is based on an in-depth interview, explanation of the diagnostic approach, planning of the appropriate treatment and objective evaluation of the different structures involved.
There are certain differences between both disciplines, but they complement each other perfectly, and in fact, combining them is when we obtain the greatest benefit from both therapies.
What types of physiotherapy and osteopathy do we treat at Imar Palma?
01.
Structural Physiotherapy
Structural physiotherapy focuses on treating musculoskeletal problems affecting bones, joints and soft tissues. Through manual techniques and specific exercises, mobility is improved and pain is relieved, promoting effective and long-lasting recovery.
02.
Neurological Physiotherapy
Neurological physiotherapy focuses on the rehabilitation of patients with disorders of the nervous system, such as strokes, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease. Through specialized techniques and targeted exercises, it aims to recover motor function, improve balance and coordination, and enhance the patient’s quality of life and independence.
03.
Geriatric Physiotherapy
Geriatric physiotherapy is dedicated to improving the mobility and wellbeing of older adults, helping to prevent falls and enhance quality of life. It uses exercises tailored to each patient’s needs, with the aim of maintaining or recovering functional independence.
04.
Sports Physiotherapy
Focused on the recovery of sport-related injuries, sports physiotherapy works on the rehabilitation of sprains, muscle tears and other common conditions. It also prevents injuries through muscle strengthening and flexibility training to optimize athletic performance.
05.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a discipline that seeks to restore the body’s balance through manual techniques. It is based on the connection between the musculoskeletal system and the overall wellbeing of the body. By treating soft tissues and joints, osteopathy promotes self-regeneration and improves mobility, reducing pain and tension.
What benefits do physiotherapy and osteopathy offer for each of these conditions?
Improves Mobility
Therapeutic exercises help restore spinal flexibility.
Pain Reduction
Manipulation and stretching techniques relieve muscle tension.
Relapse Prevention
Strengthening the back muscles to avoid future injuries.
What is the diagnosis and treatment process at Imar Palma?
01.
In this first step, a comprehensive assessment of the patient is carried out, gathering all relevant information about their medical history and current symptoms. This evaluation is key to understanding the specific needs and conditions of each patient.
02.
Next, a more in-depth analysis is performed through diagnostic tests and a thorough clinical review. The goal is to reach a clear and precise diagnosis that allows for an appropriate treatment to be offered.
03.
Once the diagnosis has been established, a personalised treatment plan is designed, taking into account the patient's specific needs and the best therapeutic options available. This plan is individually tailored to each case.
04.
Finally, the patient's progress is continuously monitored throughout the treatment. As it advances, adjustments can be made to the plan to ensure the best possible results, always looking after the patient's health and wellbeing.
What physiotherapy and osteopathy techniques do we use?
At Imar Palma, we use a combination of physiotherapy and osteopathy techniques personalised for each patient, including manual therapy, joint mobilisation, stretching, myofascial release, electrotherapy and trigger point therapy. These techniques focus on improving mobility, relieving pain, reducing inflammation and restoring muscular and joint balance. We also apply therapeutic exercises and structural osteopathy to optimise recovery and prevent future injuries, addressing both acute and chronic pain in a comprehensive way.
What is the duration and frequency of physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments?
The duration and frequency of physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments at Imar Palma vary according to each patient’s needs and condition. Generally, sessions last between 30 and 60 minutes, and the initial frequency is usually 2 to 3 times per week, decreasing as the patient improves. The total duration of the treatment depends on how the case evolves, adapting to the patient’s response and the established therapeutic goals.
What is recovery like after a physiotherapy or osteopathy treatment?
Recovery following a physiotherapy or osteopathy treatment is usually gradual, with improvements in mobility and pain reduction noticeable from the first sessions.
Some temporary discomfort is normal, but it disappears quickly. The length of recovery depends on the severity of the injury and adherence to the treatment plan. Follow-up is key to adjusting the treatment and ensuring a complete and lasting improvement.
